Ayad Alawadi

Ayad Alawadi is a Master's student focusing on the apple pomace's role in satiety. He is also developing a practical product by repurposing apple pomace as a dietary supplement.

Ayad is an international student from Surra, Kuwait. He completed his BS in Human Nutrition and Food Science with a minor in Food Technology at WVU in May 2018. He trained as a clinical dietitian in Al-Amiri Hospital in Kuwait. He was a member of the WVU Med Chef group, where he instructed medical students on the use of healthy recipe for chronically ill patients. Ayad also develops healthy products using food technology as a tool to overcome issues such as low nutritional density in foods. Currently, Ayad's research is focusing on the impact of apple pomace on gene markers of satiety in the brain. Ayad plans to pursue a career in nutrition and product development.
